Sara Oschlag Quartet

Sara Oschlag vocals Dan Shepherd bass Darren Beckett drums Hugh Buckley Guitar Darren Beckett (drums) won a prestigious Bass Ireland Award as a teenager, leaving the emerald isle to study jazz in New York, where he resided for 21 years. Across his career, he has played drums everywhere from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Royal Albert Hall in London. He’s performed on over 50 albums recording with notable names like Brandon Flowers, Daniel Lanois, Madeleine Peyroux Lee Konitz and Kenny Wheeler. Over the years, Darren has worked with Lauryn Hill of The Fugees, James Hunter, jazz pianist Aaron Parks Played festivals all over the world from Austin City Limits to Montreux to NH7 in India. His current main gigs today are with Brandon Flowers (The Killers), and American jazz singer Madeleine Peyroux, whom he toured with for over ten years. Darren co-wrote the lead single ‘Can’t Deny My Love’ on Brandon Flowers’ number one charting second solo album, ‘The Desired Effect’. He currently teaches drums at ACM London, and has been touring the US and Europe with Indie darlings Amen Dunes this year, also spending part of the year recording in LA, Austin and New York with various artists and film composers. Darren’s band Ambulance ltd recently reformed to play some shows. In New York. Darren was recently featured in Modern Drummer magazine ‘On The Beat’ He is endorsed by Canopus drums, Paiste cymbals, Vic Firth Drum sticks, Aquarian Drum heads, Protection Racket Drum cases, and Reflexx pads. Since moving to the UK in 2016 he’s been a regular on the London jazz scene playing Ronnie Scott’s and the 606 club, playing with Jason Rebello, Gilad Atzmon, and Alan Barnes. And active on the studio scene in London and Dublin. Hugh Buckley is a Dublin born and based, self-taught guitarist, composer, arranger, educator and author. He has performed throughout Europe, the U.S., Argentina and China, working as a sideman and also leading his own groups. Dan Sheppard has been working the UK jazz scene for the past 25 years. After moving to Brighton in 1994 to pursue a career in jazz bass, he quickly became a regular fixture on the local scene. After paying his dues with such fine players as Alan Barnes, Bobby Wellins and Jim Mullen he was offered a residency at Ronnie Scott’s with Little Jimmy Scott’s visiting American band. Since then Dan has recorded with Bobby Durham (Oscar Peterson’s drummer) and is now a regular fixture on the London scene, playing with Nigel Price, Steve Fishwick and many others. Sara Oschlag ,vocalist, has made a name for herself on the south coast of England, working in&leading bands for the last 10 years all over the UK – an effort which has seen her earn over two million views on YouTube. She has been hailed a ‘musician’s singer’ due to her wonderful way of using dynamics, texture & rhythm to sing the songs. An intelligent interpreter of songs in the jazz tradition, her influences include Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O’Day, Shirley Horn, Nancy Wilson & Eddie Jefferson, to name few. John Moriarty Quartet

Moriarty’s 2013 record release, ‘Echoes’ received great reviews internationally, and showcases his individual voice on the instrument. This evenings repertoire is drawn from carefully selected jazz standards as well as some new and original music. Carvin currently averages around 330 live performances a year. In the Summer of 2018 Carvin Jones completed his first ever American Hard Rock Cafe Tour – performing exclusive dates at Hard Rock Cafes in Boston, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Denver, Seattle, Indianapolis, Tampa, Phoenix, and Anchorage. Carvin is currently in negotiations for many more locations in the USA, Canada, and Europe! 2017/ 2018 continue to be very busy years for Carvin. On June 23, 2016 he performed his biggest show to date in Valladolid, Spain. 60,000 were in attendance for Carvin’s 50th Birthday show. Carvin has an over 25 year history of success worldwide. Boye & Colours Afrobeat

Launched originally as Colours Afrobeat Foundation – ‘Boye PapaGee (Gboyega Akerele) is a Belgian/Nigerian (Yoruba) born drummer/percussionist, saxophonist, singer/song-writer, musical director/producer, cultural envoy and custodian, overseer and keeper of authentic, genuine Afrobeat in Ireland; he is the founder and leader of Colours Afrobeat a 12-piece Band, Ireland’s first and foremost multicultural Afrobeat band that premiered before a sold out audience at the Drogheda Arts Centre. With own tunes; the repertoire of songs are all original; culturally pro-active, consciously progressive in nature and the roots of the music is African blended with all the elements of West African music such as Juju music, Fuji/Apala music, and high-life music intermingled with funk and jazz with emphasis on chanted vocals in the form of call-and-response, intricate criss-crossing rhythm on the drums usually in the form of polyrhythmic percussion and all families of percussions such as Congas, Claves, Shekere, Akuba: a set of 2-3 piece small stick-hit Yoruba Congas that plays accompaniment/solos and ostinatos. ‘Boye PapaGee was dubbed in Paris after hearing his soft and mellow voice as the ‘Satchmo of Afrobeat’ during a song recording session in collaboration with Kologbo Oghene ex Fela-Kuti’s African 70 Guitarist (titled ‘Gbogbo-Aye’ – meaning the whole world); recorded and produced by Paris DJ record label in Paris in 2017. ‘Boye PapaGee & Colours Afrobeat has also collaborated with the legendary drummer Tony Allen (Ex Fela-Kuti’s Africa 70 drummer/music director and co-creator of the genre Afrobeat) twice in Dublin, in 2013 at the Ep’s launch at The Sugar Club and at the premiere of Feile Afro Culture Summit pioneered by ‘Boye PapaGee in 2016 at the Button Factory, Temple-Bar Dublin respectively with huge success. Fela Kuti was once quoted as saying that, “without Tony Allen, there would be no Afrobeat.” ‘Boye PapaGee & Colours Afrobeat has shared the stage with the Grammy Award-winning American Hip-hop trio ‘Naughty by Nature’, the legendary Ghanaian guitarist, composer, arranger, bandleader and producer Ebo-Taylor to mention a few. ‘Boye PapaGee’s song ‘Prayer for World Peace’ was featured by Star Wax Record Label based in Paris in their limited edition of 33 Rpm Vinyl Afro Disco Dub Volume 4. The high octane in ‘Boye PapaGee’s groove creates such energy in the music that is guaranteed to get you dancing from the start to finish. ‘Boye PapaGee & Colours Afrobeat long awaited full album was out as download only on Feile Afro Culture Ireland label from the 3rd July 2018 titled AK47 – the idea is to use the craft of music to resist wars, conflicts, terrorisms, bombs, rocket-missiles and bullets resulting in all the senseless killings going on in Nigeria, Africa, U.S.A, in Syria and Iraq, Europe and all around the world. The album also feature track like Mister President, its high time we start asking questions from the politicians on how we are being governed, ‘Prayer For World Peace’ is also filling European airwaves from the shores of Ireland to France, Belgium, Spain, Brazil, Argentina and The Netherlands and other high octane tracks such as ’Ak47’ and ‘It is good to be Good’ – guaranteed to get you dancing.
