Conor Guilfoyle Octet: Conor is one of Ireland’s foremost drummers and educators and has toured and recorded with some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians. Having led various Latin jazz and salsa bands over the last 20 years this is his first time leading a jazz ensemble. The members were all handpicked by Conor and represent some of the finest young musicians on the scene today. The music is a look back to the 1950’s to a style often associated with the west coast of America known as “Cool Jazz” as well as arrangements of hardbop classics by Horace Silver, Benny Golson and Tadd Dameron. Expect tight section playing and great soloists all underpinned with a swinging rhythm section. Emilia Mårtensson is a London based Swedish vocalist and composer of considerable repute. ‘The Welcome Rain’ is a project featuring and co-led by London based musicians Tommy Emmerton on guitar, and Graeme Flowers on Trumpet. Both of which their Original compostions are inspired by Wayne Shorter, Michael Brecker, Wynton Marsalis & Pat Metheny. This new project also features Ireland’s critically acclaimed rhythm section Dave Redmond on Bass and Kevin Brady on Drums. Trumpeter Graeme Flowers, has performed with Quincy Jones, Taylor Swift, Paul Weller, Duran Duran,Elbow,Michael Buble, The Brand New Heavies,The James Taylor Quartet, Kelly Rowland, The Script, Jamie Cullum, Jools Holland, Seal,Kelly Clarkson, Midge Ure, Jamelia,Mica Paris, Emma Bunton, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen,Manu Katche and Dominic Miller. In the studio, Graeme has recorded on the albums of Leona Lewis, Imelda May, Simply Red, Joey Negro, Moloko, Duffy, Brenda Russell, The Go Team, Katie Melua, JTQ, Mick Hucknall, Ed Motta, and Jo Hogg. Graeme has also recorded on the Jazz albums of The London Horns, Tim Rose, Clement Regert, Jacob Quistgaard and Will Todd. Also the ‘world music’ albums of Eliane Correa, Lokkhi Terra, Cubafrobeat, Saravah Soul, Justin Thurgur, Pandit Danesh, Family Atlantica, Afro Elements and Jazzinho. Graeme toured Internationally with Kyle Eastwood, Clint’s bass playing son. He has performed on, and written music for three of Clint Eastwood’s Movie soundtracks and played at all the major Jazz festivals and jazz clubs in America, Japan, Europe, Indonesia and South Africa. He recently recorded on the soundtracks for movies Early Man and Hurricane. Tommy Emmerton studied jazz at Trinity College Of Music and The Royal Academy Of Music. He is currently the guitarist for The Book Of Mormon in London’s West End, BBC Big Band, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, Louis Dowdeswell Big Band and is professor of Harmony and Jazz guitar at The Guildhall School Of Music And Drama. Tommy has performed with artists as diverse as Al Jarreau, Eddie Henderson, Gary Bartz, Curtis Stigers and Katherine Jenkins and has recorded with Jamie Cullum and Burt Bacharach.
