Sofia Talvik – Swedish singer at Arthurs Live

“Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original acoustic folk music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy in a visually-arresting solo presentation.” Sofia Talvik is an well established artist from Sweden with a broad audience from all over the world and has played at several festivals in the USA including The Lollapalooza and SXSW. She plays a unique blend of folk-pop (someone said Neo-Folk). This American genre filtered through her Swedish heritage, becomes something totally unique, a blend that has attracted attention from reviewers, blogs and music lovers. Her music will make you think of Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, and Jewel. She’s opened for big artists like Suzanne Vega and Maria McKee. She’s an accomplished singer/songwriter – performer and have a track record of 6 full length releases. 2011-2013 she did an extensive tour in the USA playing over 250 concerts in 37 states, with stops at renowned festivals like SxSW and Folk Alliance International Conference. Sofia Talvik is absolutely freaking gorgeous, and her charming stage presence drew me in, all the more. Not only is she a great singer, she fingerpicks her acoustic flawlessly, reminiscent of the steady subtle perfection of Nick Drake’s Pink Moon. – RVA Magazine, Richmond, VA 9.00pm
