To mark 102 years since the James Joyce short story “The Dead” was published, and on the eve of Bloomsday just down the road at 15 Ushers Island, Dublin 8, Arthurs Pub are hosting the DEAD DINNER on Wednesday, 6th January 2016, at 7.30pm.

We will start by showing the first part of John Huston’s classic film adaptation of the story, The Dead, starring Angelica Huston, and the late Donal McCann.

We will then have our own Epiphany Dinner, which will be the exact meal as detailed in the short story, During the meal we will link online with The James Joyce House of the Dead, 15 Ushers Island, where a gathering is also taking place to mark the occasion.

We will then show the remainder of the film. Proceedings should finish at about 9.30pm, but we do hope that you will stay on for some musical entertainment of the era.

The ticket price, inclusive of the film, the 3 course meal (including goose, spiced beef & ham), and wine,  and the musical entertainment is €40. All profits from the evening will be donated to The Mendicity Institution, which is one of the oldest charities in Dublin, and who provide meals for the poor from their premises in Island Street, almost directly behind 15 Ushers Island.
