“Glorious free-spirited jazz” The Irish Times
Her newest project, the Carole Nelson Trio, with Carole on piano, bassist Cormac O’Brien and drummer Dominic Mullan, began at the Trio Trio Piano Festival held in Dublin in 2015. The Trio’s first album, One Day in Winter, is due for release November 16th 2017. The album, all original compositions from Carole, follows the course of one day in winter, inspired by the South County Carlow landscape between the River Barrow and the Blackstairs Mountains where Carole has made her home. This album will be available for purchase at the concert.
Since moving to New York in 1985, David Berkman has been an important part of the jazz community. He has performed extensively with the bands of Cecil McBee, Tom Harrell and with the Vanguard Orchestra.
Now appearing more and more often as a bandleader, David Berkman has performed solo and with his quartet, quintet and sextet at festivals and clubs in the United States, Europe and Japan, most recently at the Edinburgh and Glagow Jazz festivals in Scotland. In Ireland he has appeared at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, The Queens Belfast Festival and the Bray Jazz Festival. He has also performed in Dublin.
David Berkman toured Ireland with the Berkman / Buckley Quartet in April 2006 and again in 2008 with musicians from Scotland and Ireland in the band titled for the tour The AMEIRESCO Sextet. Both of these tours were organised by Jazz on the Terrace.
At this unique event he is joined onstage by Dave Redmond on Double Bass and Kevin Brady on Drums.
It is a real treat to have such great friends of Jazz on the Terrace joining us in Dublin to celebrate 35 years of Irish and international jazz music.
