The Bal-Musette Trio

Together again for “round 2” after their successful sold out show in the National Gallery Last year, which was a response to the Roderic O’Conor Exhibition. Tasked with weaving a story through the music that influenced Django Reinhardt and Edith Piaf amongst others, they will be doing this again and more .A night of musette and Swing and some other surprises with a possible guest or two!

Martin Tourish Originally from Co. Donegal, Martin Tourish is an accordionist, composer and producer, now based in Dublin. In 2014, Martin was awarded a PhD for his research into style in Irish traditional music. Shortly after, he became a member of the band Altan, with whom he performs internationally. The same year also saw the release of his critically acclaimed solo album Under A Red Sky Night. He has recorded film music for the Naxos label with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, played venues such as the Royal Albert Hall with The Chieftains, and the Grand Ole Opry with Altan and Ricky Skaggs. David Redmond Irish bassist David Redmond is best known for his collaborations with renowned Irish and International groups, and musicians including Van Morrison, Luka Bloom, the acclaimed American pianist Bill Carrothers, Larry Coryell, and the UK leading jazz vocalist, Ian Shaw. He attended The Newpark Music Centre, Dublin where he focused on double bass receiving the ‘Associate in Jazz Double Bass Performance. He is also a member of Yurodny (one of Ireland’s leading world music groups) and performs annually at national and international jazz festivals. Stephen Daly Stephen Daly’s musical interests vary from traditional to Balkan to jazz and swing. Entirely self-taught, he plays guitar, banjo and violin and has worked with Irish acts and artists such as Betty Swing Machine, Wally Page and Jerry Fish. He toured Ireland and the UK extensively as a member of the instrumental ensemble the North Strand Kontra Band, and has supported groups such as the Buena Vista Social Club, Mahala Rai Banda, The Hot 8 Brass Band, Kíla and the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. A regular on the gypsy jazz scene and festival circuit, he currently fronts the Dublin Based outfit, the Tolka Hot Club. Doors 9 Music 9.30 Entry 10€
