Colm Skwirbat

Written by conall. Posted in Blues'n'Jazz, Music

Born in Dublin in 1997, Colm Skwirbat is carrying on the tradition of the old blues masters of the Mississippi Delta by playing the blues on his homemade cigar-box guitars. He puts his own twist on old blues classics, while still capturing the raw feel and authenticity of the ‘20s and ‘30s bottleneck blues on his 1-string and 4-string guitars. These unusual instruments were built by his father out of otherwise mundane materials, such as a cigar-box, a dog bowl and a broomstick. Colm has performed at events such as Body&Soul, Electric Picnic, the Festival of Writing and Ideas at Borris, as well as main stage at the International Rory Gallagher Festival. 9.30 free in!
